Dr. Zintsmaster specializes in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of complex psychological conditions. Her therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs and goals.

Her areas of clinical interest include relationship and interpersonal concerns, intimacy and sexual health, executive and professional wellness, sports psychology, complex trauma and first responder trauma, depression, and whole-person psychological well-being.

She strives to cultivate a therapeutic environment characterized by empathy, trust, collaboration, and clinical excellence—one in which lasting growth and genuine transformation can occur.

Dr. Zintsmaster received her bachelors of arts in Psychology and English from University of California at Davis. She also received a masters of arts from University of San Francisco in counseling psychology with a focus in marriage and family therapy, and a Doctorate of Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Forensics. Additionally, she holds a Post Doctoral Masters of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University in Clinical Psychopharmacology.  Dr. Zintsmaster has been licensed as a clinical psychologist in California since 2015, in New Mexico since 2022. She has held medical staff hospital privileges at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA since 2015 and at another OC hospital since 2023.  She became a DWC Qualified Medical Evaluator for CA in 2026.

Clinical Training

Dr. Amanda Zintsmaster brings more than two decades of diverse clinical, forensic, and hospital-based experience to her practice. Prior to becoming a psychologist, she worked as a high school special education teacher, an experience that strengthened her appreciation for individual differences, resilience, and the importance of meeting people where they are.

Her doctoral training encompassed a broad range of clinical settings, including neuropsychological assessment in a hospital-based rehabilitation unit, forensic pathology and child psychological assessment at the University of California, Irvine, and comprehensive psychological evaluation across diverse patient populations. During her predoctoral internship, she completed rotations within both male and female correctional facilities, where she provided individual psychotherapy, conducted diagnostic and neuropsychological evaluations, and facilitated specialized treatment for individuals convicted of sexual offenses.

Dr. Zintsmaster's therapeutic foundation integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her treatment philosophy is evidence-based while remaining highly individualized to each person's unique history, strengths, and goals.

Following internship, she completed her postdoctoral training with Pacific Forensic Psychology Associates, where she later served as Clinical Coordinator, providing forensic psychological evaluations and outpatient treatment. She subsequently became Program Director of a large outpatient substance use and dual diagnosis treatment program in Orange County and has also served as an Adjunct Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Since 2015, Dr. Zintsmaster has provided psychological consultation services within the Emergency Department and Emergency Clinical Decision Unit at Providence St. Joseph Hospital, where she performs psychiatric evaluations, suicide and violence risk assessments, crisis intervention, capacity evaluations, and consultations regarding involuntary psychiatric hospitalization. She also serves on the hospital's Interdisciplinary Practice Committee as a member of the medical staff. Since 2023, she has served as Director and Contract Psychologist for an inpatient forensic behavioral health unit. In 2026, she became a QME for the DWC for California.

In 2017, Dr. Zintsmaster founded her private practice with the vision of providing highly personalized psychological care for individuals seeking meaningful and lasting change. She has developed particular expertise working with executives, healthcare professionals, first responders, athletes, and other high-performing individuals navigating complex personal and professional challenges. Her work focuses on helping patients develop greater self-awareness, strengthen relationships, overcome self-defeating patterns, and build lives characterized by resilience, purpose, and fulfillment.

Dr. Zintsmaster also holds a postdoctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology, providing advanced training in psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and the integration of medical and psychological care. She is among the relatively few psychologists nationwide to complete the education and examination requirements necessary to pursue prescriptive authority in New Mexico. Her training includes intensive supervised clinical experience in psychopharmacology under a board-certified psychiatrist, as well as advanced medical training under a board-certified emergency medicine physician. This unique background enables her to thoughtfully evaluate the role of psychiatric medications within a comprehensive treatment plan, recognizing both when medication may be beneficial and when effective psychological treatment alone may be the preferred approach.
